In Appreciation of: Tan Luxe's Express Mousse
A streak-free tan doesn’t exi… May we introduce you to the latest inductee to the Liberty Beauty Hall of Fame?
By: Verity ClarkThe Synopsis
It's the brand that gave us The Face, the game-changing self tan drops that finally put us in control of our glow. And now Tan Luxe is back with another hero. Meet Express Mousse, £37, a foolproof self tan that delivers an authentic sun-kissed glow in just 30 minutes. Perfect for those that leave everything until the last minute.
The Rise to Fame
The brain child of Marc Elrick, the CEO of beauty incubator Future Labs, Tan-Luxe is a tan brand with a difference. Each formula starts life as a skincare product. So where once hyaluronic acid and vitamin C were reserved for face serums, these powerful ingredients charge the new Express Mousse with plenty of skincare benefits, too.
The Credentials
If you’re familiar with that annoyingly tight, dry feeling you can get after applying self-tan, you'll be pleased to hear that this is the antithesis. The translucent formula is a little deceiving; the texture comes out of the bottle as a whipped mousse that glides over skin like a dream. Plus, it contains the triple threat of hyaluronic acid, beta glucan and vitamin C for a hefty dose of moisturising and skin brightening, creating the perfect surface for the self-tan ingredient to react with. And on that note, it contains 4% DHA, the optimum percentage of tanning active to provide a subtle and near-instant glow.
The Star Quality
The joy of this product lies in its speed. The easy-to-apply whipped mousse texture has no colour guide which means it won't leave behind streaks, nor will it stain your beloved bedsheets. After you apply, the tanning active reacts with the skin, and you’ll see a bronze glow develop in just 30 minutes. For a deeper colour, you can leave on for up to four hours – which is precisely when the tan will stop developing, meaning there’s no danger of overdoing it. Ideal.
