This round decorative tray features No. 15 of Fornasetti’s kaleidoscopic variations on the face of opera soprano Lina Cavalieri – the designer’s eternal muse.

Fornasetti’s decorative plate No. 15 features a surreal and beguiling portrait, with Cavalieri’s enigmatic face shown caged within an outstretched palm. Born in 1874, Cavalieri’s extraordinary beauty and powerful spirit helped her to rise from poverty to become one of the most photographed stars of her time – her face appears as an obsessively recurring subject within Piero Fornasetti’s works. Handcrafted from fine porcelain in Italy, this plate is a must-have for art and design enthusiasts. Use it as a vide-poche to store keys and jewellery, either by the front door or on your bedside table.

About Fornasetti
Fornasetti is a reliably mischievous player in Italy’s vibrant homeware and design scene. The brand grew out of artist Piero Fornasetti’s lifelong obsession with creating variations – about 500 of them – of the opera singer Lina Cavalieri’s face. He used this motif (alongside swords and suns, monkeys and butterflies, ancient architecture and sardine cans) to create his delightful designs, which adorn everything from Fornasetti plates to Fornasetti cushions and trays. Run by Piero’s son Barnaba, the design house is known for making high-quality work with a uniquely playful streak.
