At some point, we’ve all taken to Google in a frantic bid to learn how to get glowing skin. That soft, dewy sheen and lit-from-within radiance has been our collective beauty goal for some time now, yet achieving it still feels as tricky as ever. Not if you heed the advice of those in-the-know, however. The experts who have made a living helping others achieve the strong, healthy and (fundamentally) glowing skin of their dreams. Here, they very kindly share that advice with you, too.

1. Try a Little Facial Massage
As recommended by Katharine Mackenzie Paterson, facialist and founder of KMP Skin
“The benefits of facial massage are plentiful – releasing tension, stimulating lymph flow, eliminating puffiness, also stimulating our circulatory systems, thus encouraging the movement of oxygenated blood into our faces. It also helps to ground and calm us. You can do it at any time of day, and just a few quick movements squeezed into a minute, or working for a longer period of time will all have a benefit. The best product for doing a massage is using a facial oil, as it provides the right amount of glide for the skin, and facial oils are super glow givers and really nourish the skin. Some of my favourites from the Beauty Hall are Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate Oil, $63 and Zelens Z-22 Ultimate Face Oil, $93”

2. Introduce Vitamin C to Your Regimen
As recommended by Dija Ayodele, skin health specialist and author of Black Skin
“My go-to for a glow is using a straight vitamin C serum as booster (in addition to my regular skincare routine) for seven to ten days, morning and night. I do this before big events, photoshoots, anything important! Something like Sunday Riley C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum, $93 is great for this, because it uses the derivative, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate which is very stable and really boosts the brightness of the skin, also helping to fade superficial hyperpigmentation for a more even skin tone. In my experience, I always liken it to having a lightbulb under your skin because the glow really pops!”

3. Exfoliate!
As recommended by Dr. Anjali Mahto, consultant dermatologist and author of The Skincare Bible
“One of my favorite skincare products is Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant,$46. It contains salicylic acid which is not only good at chemically exfoliating the skin to reveal a brighter complexion, but it has the ability to regulate oil production so is beneficial for blemish-prone or combination skin. A favorite in my own skincare at home, as well as one I frequently recommend in the clinic, it’s a cult classic for a reason.”

4. Proper Prep Goes a Long Way
As recommended by Dr. Maryam Zamani, facial aesthetics doctor and founder of MZ Skin
“Skin prep is super important for a supremely healthy glow. Ideally, this is done in tandem with a good skincare regime. Start with MZ Skin Cleanse & Clarify to cleanse the skin, then The Radiance and Renewal Instant Clarity Refining Mask, $160 for a deeper exfoliation, removing dead skin, debris, and overlying pollutants from the skin. This makes the skin receptive to the fabulous actives you will place on top. Then I suggest using the Glow Boost Ampoules, $215 in the am and pm for five days to obtain radiant, dewy skin. Then the rest of the skincare. Masks are extremely useful to re-hydrate and deeply nourish the skin. Specifically, hydrating masks containing hyaluronic acid are a great way to plump and moisten skin for a natural glow.”

5. Don't Skip Sleep
As recommended by Megan Felton, skincare expert
“The one key holistic tip for achieving glow is going to be to get sleep. I know that this is very boring, but truly if your sleep is not on point, every single thing will then suffer. Lack of sleep impacts our stress levels, diet habits, general ability to get good exercise in and overall mood – all of these have a major impact on the skin barrier and skin health over time! The product I LOVE has to be Wild Source Miracle Oil, $67 – it balances the holistic ritual of using your skincare routine as the bookmark of your day and also is incredible at nourishing the skin. You can add to your foundation for a little boost too.”

6. Try PHAs
As recommended by Pamela Marshall, clinical aesthetician and co-founder of Mortar & Milk
“For long term hydration and that 'glow' we always strive for, I am a huge fan of PHAs (aka poly hydroxy acids). They are second generation alpha hydroxy acids, slightly higher in molecular weight so are less aggressive than using an AHA daily. They gently exfoliate, meaning you can use them daily without inflammation, but they also work as both a humectant and antioxidant. Look for a formulation that is high in PHA's (gluconolactone, lactobionic acid and maltobionic acid – all or even just one) and low in AHAs (or no AHAs at all). I always say long-term use of PHA's gives us a juicy thickness to our skin. It’s not an eloquent description, but it's spot on.” Liberty loves Zelens PHA+ Resurfacing Essence, $60
