The Spitalfields Silk foulard scarf from Liberty is crafted from rich silk twill and expertly printed in Italy with a design created in our London studio – a life-long modern icon to brighten up daily dressing.

Whether looped around your neck or slipped through the handles of a tote, a Liberty scarf is a heroine of versatile styling. This silk twill scarf is printed with Spitalfields Silk – originally dating from around the 1790s, this artwork is based on some of the oldest designs found in the Liberty archive. These artworks would have been hand painted on textile point paper and used as instructions for decorative needlework. The design includes trailing lace elements adorned with flower bouquets, peacock feathers and animal patterned ribbons.
