You may be tempted to reach for the trusty gift card or another mug for her ceramic collection, but we can assure you, a thoughtful, hand-picked gift will get you bumped right up to the top of her Good List a lot faster.
So what do you get them that screams you're the best, I love you, thank you for everything? Well, who better than a mother herself to answer that for you? The best gift I have received as a mother is a spectacular bespoke custom-made ring with five garnet stones, representing our son’s birth date and birthstone that my partner had designed for me. So special.

I never thought I’d be the type of person who enjoyed sentimental gifts that bring on the tears but that all changed with Motherhood. I would grumble that I never had any pictures with our babies so my husband designed a super chic book of my daughters and I, storytelling their ‘firsts’ from sitting on an aeroplane, trips to the farm, to their first trip to Liberty! Unknown to me he had hundreds of pictures of us hidden on his phone. It’s such a beautiful gift that it sits proudly on our coffee table like my very own exclusive Taschen.

I’m a new mother with a nine-month-old baby girl and I honestly think she’s the best gift I could ever receive, but my dad who lives in South Korea and still hasn’t been able to meet her in person, sent a beautiful Van Cleef and Arpel necklace with her star sign engraved and I will cherish that until I can hand it down to my girl when she’s old enough to not lose it.

My favourite Christmas gift I received from my family was a lovely charm from Annoushka in the shape of a feather – I love it for its promise of luck and a wish for good fortune and can be worn every day as one of the charms on my favourite bracelet.

Of course, the best Christmas gifts cannot be bought, and when I became a mother, my Christmas changed dramatically – now with our own little traditions. Nothing can beat your little one waking up to a full stocking from Santa on Christmas morning. So magical. But if we’re talking gifts that can be bought, (which I am also very fond of), then I have to say the best Christmas gift I ever received was probably a glass butter dish from my brother. I absolutely love it and can’t quite believe it’s lasted all these years. Although if my husband read this, he'd say I’m lying and it’s definitely the much-cherished Saint Laurent bag I received two Christmases ago. Can’t I love both?

I remember receiving a beautiful manicure kit one year. That was really special. My favourite presents are usually beauty products, I love hand creams, perfume and candles for the home too!

The best Christmas present I ever received was a friendship bracelet and probably cost less than £10. I was travelling through South America on a 3-month sabbatical with my boyfriend [now husband] and we had just arrived in Argentina on NYE to meet a friend and spend Christmas in a homestay. We tasked each other to head out and find something for Christmas Day with just an hour until the stores closed, it was the most fun I'd ever had shopping. We all woke on Christmas morning and had a giggle about the gifts (Feliz Navidad knickers etc.), and had lunch with a bunch of amazing strangers in a random person's home. I always remember how kind the hosts were and how magical it felt. When I think about this memory, it always reminds me that Christmas really is all about people.
