Meet Wildsmith – the skincare brand seeking to transform skin and wellness with its science-based products. Inspired by the healing abilities of the trees at Heckfield Place (the Hampshire-based wellness retreat renowned for its botanical gardens), Wildsmith champions natural ingredients to help you achieve healthier skin and a clearer mind.
This spring, Liberty has partnered up with the brand to bring you The Wildsmith House – an immersive space and nature installation on the ground floor of Liberty. Designed to evoke the natural surroundings of The Bothy, Wildsmith’s award-winning wellbeing space, The Wildsmith House invites you to enjoy The Bothy experience while reconnecting with nature. Step inside for a taste of Wildsmith's products, and surround yourself with soothing woodland foliage, transported to Liberty from the Heckfield Place estate.
We sat down with Katherine Pye, General Manager at Wildsmith, to find out more about this truly unique brand and discover how to incorporate the brand’s botanical ethos into your everyday…
1. What makes Wildsmith stand out from other brands in the beauty and wellness market?
At its core, Wildsmith understands how to deliver clinically proven, science-based products and experiences to transform skin health and wellbeing. We recently put our Radical Botany facial through a clinical trial, showcasing just one example of how we go beyond with every detail to deliver to our customers.
2. How does Liberty align with the Wildsmith ethos?
Liberty is a destination for the curious, and with our customers being informed, ageless and engaged they seek quality and innovation. This means that Liberty is the perfect place for them to discover our products.
3. Can you describe the Wildsmith concept in one minute?
Wildsmith is created for those who demand efficacy, without compromising on responsibility. The brand is celebrated for its clinically proven, high-performance formulations: designed to support and transform skin health. Inspired by how trees adapt, heal, and renew, our products draw on delivery systems that transport the precise ingredient dosage to the specific part of the skin at the optimum time of day, making it truly unique.
4. How can people adopt the Bothy Way from home with your products?
Wildsmith products lend themselves to rituals that you can practise at home, with some of them being best used at different times of the day. For example, with Wildsmith's Stillness collection (products focused on aiding a good night's sleep), we would recommend that you make an herbal tea of choice before carrying out the following steps:
1. Apply Active Repair Nourishing Cleansing Balm to the face, neck and décolleté before showering.
2. Remove the cleanser during your shower and hydrate the body with the Stillness Shower Oil.
3. Follow with Stillness Body Oil then apply the Super Hydrating Overnight Mask and rest.
5. Can you give us some tips on reconnecting with nature, for when we can't get to The Wildsmith House?
We would suggest disconnection from devices and trying to find some space where nature is present. Our office is next to the River Thames, but we find that even surrounded by noise and traffic you can begin to feel calm when you stop looking at your screen and watch the rise and fall of the tide symbolising the passing of time. Simple breathwork is always encouraged to help lower cortisol levels.
6. What is the hero product in the collection and why?
We launched our Super Hydrating Overnight Mask in September 2023, and since then, it has become a product that we struggle to keep on the shelves. It has amazing clinical results reducing redness and increasing moisturisation levels, with 84% of participants showing an instant and long-term reduction in redness and 141% showing an increase in hydration levels overnight. It is fast becoming our best-selling product and is loved by the press, so we couldn’t be prouder of our latest addition.
