In Appreciation of: L'Artisan Parfumeur’s Il Était Un Bois
The latest perfume arriving into the Liberty Beauty Hall of Fame will transport you to one of nature’s most relaxing environments: the woods
By: Maddi JohnThe Synopsis
It may have only just landed, but L'Artisan Parfumeur’s Il Était Un Bois, £170 for 100ml, is already causing a stir in The Fragrance Lounge. Taking inspiration from a walk in the forest, Il Était Un Bois takes you on a scent journey, exploring all the different facets of the woods in an unexpected harmony.
The Rise to Fame
From the sweet and woody scent of Premier Figuier to the luscious blackcurrant notes of Mûre et Musc, L’Artisan Parfumeur’s array of best selling perfumes are fast becoming fragrance classics, and we have a feeling this new creation will follow suit. The scent was designed by renowned perfumer Caroline Dumur who wanted to find: “a different way of exploring wood, by adding unexpected dimensions and textures”.
The Credentials
A woody fragrance that combines notes of vetiver with buckwheat and cedarwood accords, Il Était Un Bois – which translates to A Tale of Wood – is an escapist scent that cocoons you in a refreshing, earthy aroma. Housed in the brand’s signature heptagonal-shaped glass bottle with the brand’s stamped emblem, it’s the perfect, elegant addition to any dressing table display.
The Star Quality
This is a perfume that, quite literally, smells like a walk in the woods, and so the uniquely complex combination of woody notes within the bottle deservedly take centre stage. Il Était Un Bois is a perfume for those who truly appreciate the scents found in nature and want to take the grounding, earthy scent of the forest with them wherever they go.
