Hair care experts share their curative routines for the most-suffered ills
Shop Hair CareHair can be unpredictable, disobedient and lacklustre at best – but in most cases, it’s nothing a well-constructed routine can’t fix. To shed some much-needed light on the most common causes of distress, we turn to the experts behind our Beauty Hall’s most heroic hair care brands for their recommended remedies – and game-changing tips for how to maximise the efficacy of your products.
Damaged
“Wash hair with NOUNOU shampoo and conditioner to restructure and replenish, then comb Liquid Spell through the lengths (mixing three drops to two drops of Oi Oil for medium to coarse hair) before blow drying. For a weekly home treatment, apply The Renaissance Circle Repair as a mask to restore shine and softness to damaged hair.”
—Mariana Pacheco, Davines Marketing Manager
Dry
“You would never imagine hair could feel nourished after shampooing, but Dizziak Hydration Wash leaves it feeling just right (and smelling incredible). This, in addition to Dizziak Deep Conditioner, has completely changed my hair – it always felt dry, looked dull and would regularly break off. A little goes a long way, and you can feel the natural hydrators working as soon as it touches the hair.”
—Loretta de Feo, Dizziak Founder
Thinning
“Invati Advance is the perfect 3-step system to exfoliate the scalp and strengthen and thicken hair. It stops breakage and re-energises the scalp to encourage hair growth. Using the shampoo, conditioner, and Scalp Revitaliser daily will reduce hair loss by 53% in just 12 weeks.”
—Hailey Hughes, Head of Education at Aveda UK
Dull
”This duo from the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil range is your key to glossy, hydrated hair. Primer and Dry Oil are great for all hair types – light but still moisturising, with heat/UV protection. Fatty acids and macadamia oil help to strengthen and nourish, moisturising brittle strands to leave hair soft with a beautiful sheen.”
—Collette McGee, National Educator for Bumble and Bumble
Flaky Scalp
“Whether or not it shows signs of ill health, looking after the skin on your head is as important as looking after the skin on your face – a healthy scalp means healthy hair. Revitalising Fortifying Serum and Regenerating Hair Mask from Hair Rituel by Sisley both contain rice proteins, which stimulate hair follicle stem cells to regenerate hair fibre and allow longer and denser hair.”
—Christine d’Ornano, Sisley Paris Global Vice-President
Off-Tone Blonde
“For unwanted yellow and brassy tones, avoid silver shampoos as they can be harsh, drying and flat in tone. wiig has an iridescent effect for a cleaner, brighter blonde finish. For the ultimate colour maintenance routine, start with Davines Nourishing Shampoo (or Replumping Shampoo for fine hair needing volume). Rinse and towel dry, then apply wiig from roots to tips, combing to distribute evenly. Leave on for 3-5 minutes, or longer for particularly yellow tones. Follow with OLAPLEX No.6 in mids and ends before blow drying. For added texture, apply LØRE Texture + Wave spray when hair is almost dry, then twist sections in your hands as you apply heat.”
—Anna Wiig, wiig Founder and Creative Colour Director at Taylor Taylor London
