In this exclusive series for Liberty, Miranda Boulton responds to her memories of the Last Flower Paintings by Manet.

Boulton’s flowers are timeless, they disintegrate and fade with great beauty, and fragility, reminding us of the ephemeral, fleeting nature of life. This series is a classic example of Boulton’s distinctive contemporary painting style, where past and present collide to form an exciting visual language. About Miranda Boulton
Miranda Boulton is a contemporary British painter, whose distinctive abstract paintings focus on Nature Morte of flora. Based in Cambridge, her work is a response to historical references within this genre, translating images through memory into a contemporary pictorial language. An ongoing conversation between past and present, each original piece explores new forms by taking inspiration from old imagery and narratives.
